Advertising

I think that with the advent (pun totally intended) of services like Google’s Adsense and Amazon’s little comission program, we’re reaching an age where advertising permeates more or less all aspects of our lives. Today’s small business mentality dictates that there are three ways to make money:

• Sell a Product

• Charge a Usage fee / Sell a Service

or

• Host Ads

Frankly, I think it won’t take too much longer for large sections of the internet-based advertising industry to realize that half their money is spent on fraudulent clicks and gimmicky, pointless flash animations, and then they’ll do something scary: find ways to advertive effectively, instead of just gaudily.

But really my point is that advertising has permeated so many aspects of our lives already. There’s really no reason to tack banners on sites for the extra $3 per month I’d realistically get—so I promise: no ads on Jason-Preston.com. This blog isn’t about money, it’s about my thoughts.
