Windows Vista

I’m sitting here with my friend Jeff in his dad’s office at Microsoft, updating from the new IE7 running on “Windows (R) Codename Longhorn: for testing purposes only.”

I’ve read about most of the “new and flashy” features in PC Magazine already, but it’s still fun to play around with all the tools in action. There’s a lot of functionality that they’ve promised that isn’t here (you can’t even see basic thumbnails yet, let alone scale them to full size with a slider) and we still haven’t figured out how the whole “add keyword,” search, and directory structures work.

Regardless, it’s shiny.

PS. The little “active windows have a translucent bar” thing? Really pointless. Also, it doesn’t seem to look that good on an LCD screen — so I hope they cut/change it for the final release.
