Aha! Simmons!

Ever since my friends David and Jeremy pointed me to the work of Bill Simmons over at ESPN’s Page 2, I’ve been consistently amazed with how good of a writer Simmons actually is. His articles always have a perfect balance of humor, sports and the obligatory pop culture references.

He’s managed to make a career from simply making things funny in print, which is basically my dream job.

The one problem is that I’ve never been good at doing things regularly. For me, ruitines are those things that other people have, and though I tried—oh I tried—to read him regularly, I never got the hang of making it over to Page 2 often enough to really follow his writing on a daily basis. In fact, it got so bad that for several months I doubt I even got to just espn.com…it wasn’t until David pointed out Simmons’ article on New Orleans that I remembered how much I enjoyed reading his column.

But then I had a brainstorm: RSS. Simmons has an RSS feed that is now nestled snugly into my reader—and I’m giving serious thought to pinning it on my Start.com homepage. If you don’t read Simmons, I highly recommend that you do. And if you do read Simmons, I’d recommend that you pick up the RSS feed, because it lets you read back about 40 columns without paying ;)
