It's a popularity contest

I’d like to underline a point (of disagreement) I made a week ago after reading Seth Godin’s e-book on blogging, in which he states that if you write something interesting enough, often enough, people will start to read it.

In a stunning counter-example, I have been writing reasonable interesting things for three months, and my readership is, as best as I can tell, static. ;)

[ Edit: I’ve been eyeing the Archives item on the sidebar suspiciously as it continues to grow month-by-month with no signs of stopping. Does it switch things old enough into years, or am I going to end up with a sidebar item the length of the Nile? ]
