You never look at things properly...

…until you injure them.

I cut my finger two nights ago when I was trying to catch someone who was falling over. It’s basically a pressure cut or something, because I didn’t slice on any really sharp edges, my finger just sort of parted some skin.

It doesn’t really hurt that much and it’s not incredibly deep…it just looks kind of nasty. But I remember looking at my finger after it happened and trying to figure out if it was swollen up.

It occurred to me that this happens all the time—I don’t really look at something until I’ve injured it, and then I’m stuck going: Did my toe always look like that or did I break it?
