The word is: integration
Iââ¬â¢ve always tried to reduce. And not just the amount of electricity I use; I like the idea of using less to do more. My pockets are a good example.
About once ever two or three months, I will go through my wallet and take out everything that I donââ¬â¢t absolutely need. I usually have to make myself keep medical insurance or AAA cards. If I donââ¬â¢t use it, I donââ¬â¢t want it in my pocket.
Iââ¬â¢ve been a big fan of the way cell phones have become more and more integrated with other devices. In Europe, the technology is much farther ahead than in America.
What I want is a way to take what I currently like to carry around, and break it down to one thing. Rather than carrying a cell phone, voice recorder, iPod, and camera, Iââ¬â¢d like one device that does it all.
The one exception is the Camera. I think that there should always been a market for cameras that do nothing but take pictures really well. What I want in my pocket is something I can use to snap photos of the interesting things I see around town. Iââ¬â¢ve taken to carrying my camera when I go to the grocery store, because thereââ¬â¢s usually something along the side of the road or on the bus thatââ¬â¢s worth snapping a shot of (for blogging, if nothing else).
I want my phone to do all of those things. Take (good) pictures. Take voice recordings (longer than the 1 minute time allotted on my current phone). Play mp3s and make phone calls. Detect available wireless networks and let my Skype if possible.
The technology exists now. If you build it, we will come.
