University of Sussex needs to join the 21st century
…by making it possible to print.
There are only two computer labs on campus where I can print. This is true not only for me, but for everyone else on campus.
Today I have to present in my seminar on some various political theory things—Machiavelli and Might vs. Right and Thucydides and whatnot—and I’m supposed to have a handout (at least I think I am).
However, it turns out that there’s only one machine on campus where you can credit money to your printing account, and each page is 5p. Unless it’s a color printer, in which case each page is 20p.
They have turned off all of the black and white printers. Also, I had to log on to at least three computers before I found one with a printer driver installed.
So it took me an hour to put money onto my account and find a printer (and wait for available computers) to spend a dollar printing three copies of my handout, which the class will now have to share, because there’s no way I’m printing more pages at 40 cents a pop.
