My whole life has been catered
I have never had to cook for myself until this September. My entire life, most of my food has either been served by my parents or my school---and having to feed oneself is an entirely different type of living.
Since I’ve been here I’ve discovered the benefits of actually making a grocery list, the enjoyment of throwing things into bowls and pots and watching them come out looking edible, and that a watched pot actually does not boil.
In short, I’ve been learning to cook.
At times I miss the convenience of having a host of delicious food simply provided for me, or in the case of Oxy, an open cafeteria. But I think that cooking is fun. Tonight I’m making steak with some fried potatoes (not french fries---fried potatoes) and I think some broccoli, since that’s what I have in the fridge.
Sooner or later I will master the world of spices, but for now, more Oregano!
