Passive Media

I’m on a passive media craze. I’ve spent the past few days absolutely absorbing any movies and TV shows I can get my hands on, which is probably why I haven’t had so much to say online.

This morning I got up for a free screening of Broken Flowers, which was a good film. It’s got a good independent feel to it, and it deviates satisfactorily from classic “hollywood” traditions to deserve the title. Also, the more I think about it the more I like it.

And in the continuing saga, I’m still frustrated with the internet here. I’m forced to spend time walking to and from the computer lab just to check the dictionary (why pay to bring a 10lb book across the Atlantic when I could use dictionary.com?) and there’s rarely an open computer, anyway.

Moreover, I spent two weeks talking to IT about setting up wireless access in the rooms, during which they told me:

1. Adding wireless was a waste of effort because they had plans to install cables next year (wtf?)
2. It isn’t their department anyway. Now I need to talk to Residence

Guh.
