Time is timeless parallels

I just watched a movie that took place in a desert that was the only location for the most valuable resource known to man.

The most powerful leader had arranged to use two less powerful leaders and their armies to re-secure his hold on the precious resource.

Of course, there was a large and repressed native population who found their messianic leader who ended up defeating the evil foreign invaders and incidentally gained control of what was originally their land anyway.

The place was Arakkis, and the movie was Dune.

Weird, no?
