Traveling season

As I may have mentioned a few weeks ago, it recently occurred to me that while I’ve been here in Brighton for several months, I really haven’t left it as often as I probably should have. I wandered around for a little over two weeks before I planted myself at Sussex University, but since then I’ve mostly stayed put.

For someone who has as much interest in seeing things, that doesn’t make much sense. A trip to Europe or London from here is unbelievably cheaper than trying to get the same places from Seattle or Los Angeles. Sure, I plan to do one of those incredibly cool “around the world” tickets with a friend or two come graduation, but that’s hardly likely to accomodate the smaller destinations I’m closer to now.

And so tomorrow I’m leaving town for the second time in two weeks, heading up to visit my friend in Edinborough. I’ve heard form absolutely everyone that the place is beyond beautiful, so I’m really looking forward to having a good time and doing my usual ridiculously too-many picture taking vacation thing. I’ll be sure to upload to FlickR and post some of them here (although I’m low on bandwidth for Nov, some pictures might have to wait until December before I upload them).

The funny thing is, I’m looking forward to the traveling almost as much as being there. Something about me absolutely loves the trains here, which makes it a damn shame they’re so expensive. But I just walk to the edge of campus, then 17 pounds and 65 minutes later I can be in London. It’s ridiculous!
