Toys
It’s a frustrating fact that the older I get, the more my holiday “gift list” turns into a smaller list of more expensive toys.
When I was six or seven, I remember being happy with any kind of present so long as there were several of them. I guess the difference is that at that age I wanted things, and lots of them, whereas now I’m pretty much happy with the status quo.
When you get old enough to have a job and a salary, you start buying the things you want for yourself. Funny how that works.
So my lists are now full of items that a) I kind of want because they are cool, and b) are far too expensive to buy on a whim.
As a result, I always feel bad putting them down, because they’re not things I would ever really buy for myself, since they’re so unnecessary and unnecessarily expensive. But I guess that’s the point of getting gifts, isn’t it?
