Correspondence
I’m probably the worst kind of pen-pal. I love to get letters and e-mails, but I’m laughably bad at responding to most of them.
I think my problem is twofold: first, I like audiences (this is clever laziness) because anything done once for a hundred people is way more fun that a hundred things done once each for a hundred people.
Secondly, when I *do* write e-mails or letters to people, it’s a time-consuming thing because I really pay attention to it. When I write any e-mail longer than “hey have you seen (instert link here)?” I really put some effort into it.
I treat it like it’s an actual letter. I want people to enjoy* reading them.
So, unfortunately, I tend not to write them unless I have something to say and the time to say it properly, which is becoming increasingly difficult to do (the time, not the writing).
Bottom line: if you don’t hear back from me for a while, it’s not because I don’t care. It’s because I suck.
