NBC is halfway there

[Image removed]I have a longer post on this subject brewing in my mind, but NBC recently asked YouTube to remove all copies of the incredibly cool “Chronic(what?)les of Narnia” music video from their site.

My first reaction was to shake my finger at NBC — after all, this video is the kind of viral advertising for SNL that money can’t buy. But to be fair, NBC has a pretty decent copy of the video on their own website, and it is their content after all.

If we want streaming video to work online (hint: we do), then bloggers and internet users in general need to meet big media halfway. NBC isn’t quite halfway yet - they need to have more clips and they need to make it easy to share the videos with embed tags, etc., but they’ll never even try if we don’t give them the chance.
