Telecom internet stupidity
I’ve been keeping an eye on this business about “fast lane” internet that’s been floating around big executive heads recently. It sounds utterly stupid to me, but I haven’t really come up with a good way of phrasing it.
They did it for me. From this article:
No broadband provider has proposed to block certain Web sites. But they have said Yahoo, for instance, could pay a fee to have its search site load faster than Google.
How dumb is that? I don’t want companies to be deciding what it’s easier for me to use. If I want to search Google instead of Yahoo!, I want it to load just as fast.
Basically, their idea is to give coporations power of what you do and do not use online. That’s just stupid.
