iTunes movies suck...duh
Here’s the article I pulled off digg.
It chronicles the complaints of people who bought the new Disney Channel movie “High School Musical” off of the iTunes store for $9.99:
“Talk about a rip-off,” a user by the name of ‘Eel’ ranted in the review
section for the download. “I’m sorry, but $1.99 is perfect for an iPod format. When you get to $10, you’re basically paying for a DVD without getting the DVD extras or quality.”
All I can really say to that is: No shit.
I read a great article a few days ago that, unfortunately, I can’t find about someone’s experience downloading an episode of The Office and trying to watch it on his HDTV. Not only did he have DRM issues (after buying it and downloading it he wasn’t able to play it on the machine he just purchased it with because he had too many computers authorized) but the quality was so piss-poor that it was hardly worth watching.
And that was for $2. How could it possibly be worth $10?
Although wildly successful as a music store, iTunes is not going anywhere with video until they up the quality. I’ll pay for video online, believe me I will, but I’m not going to pay for trash. Give me HD-quality content.
