V for Vendetta

[Image removed]I just got back from watching V for Vendetta, which has me coming out of the theater going “huh.”

I never really knew anything about the comic, so I can’t really tell you how well it followed the “original material,” but I get the sense that they covered a shitload of material in a fairly short amount of time.

It was simultaneously cheesy and cool, and a HUGE political statement including a poster that featured the “coalition of the willing” with a swastika incorporated into the logo.

On a side note, it’s probably the first movie I’ve ever seen Natalie Portman actually act in, which is always a plus. I’m not the only one who thought so. I’m glad though because I’ve always wanted her to put in a good performance. And no, I don’t think she acted well in Garden State, despite the fact that it was a good movie. I think she was a good fit, but that’s different than acting well.

Overall, it was entertaining. But I wouldn’t see it again. I’d go see Night Watch instead.
