Business 101
I’ve always thought that the best and quickest way to learn something is to try it. If you want to learn French, move to France. If you want to learn how to start a business…start a business.
I’ve always been addicted to business ideas. I started two software companies and a photography service in elementary school. I have no idea how many ideas I thought I was going to make reality through middle and high school.
Each time I try things though, I get a little closer to actually doing them.
Flicker has been alternately a good idea, a good experience, and a thorn in my side for the past six months. Now, finally, I’m beginning to work with my friend at actually establishing Flicker within a workable business model, etc. etc.
I’m discovering there’s a lot of “etc.”
So far it’s been both instructive and fun. We’ve done a lot towards drawing up a complete Business Plan, which is more helpful than you would think. There’s a lot of relatively tangential things that need to be put in order when creating a business, and its a good solid summary of things you need to be considering.
I’ll try to blog parts of the experience as we go along.
