The Movies
I think part of what has always drawn me to movies is their role in taking over my sometimes overactive imagination. I’m one of those guys who actually likes the unrealistically funny or touching moments in movies, like the infamous radio in Say Anything.
Today I watched Finding Neverland for the first time, and I found it really entertaining all the way through. It was a fun movie because more than half the time was spent enjoying the notion that strangers in the park can become lifelong friends through the simple process of…imagination.
However, it did occur to me, while watching the beginning scene where Matthew Barrie runs into the Davies at the park and entertains the kids and family, how extremely strange the whole situation was. I’m pretty sure anything like that in real life, at least today, would draw some strange looks.
Eh well. That’s why we have movies.
