Writing a book (or two)
[Image: books]Seth Godin posted a list of helpful tidbits for wannabe authors like myself, and it’s a pretty awesome little list.
Since publishing a short story or a book is one of the things on my 101 list, it’s something that I’m usually either thinking about doing or working towards doing.
Since starting Flicker Gaming, I’ve literally learned at least three new things each day about blogs, blogging as a business, and running a startup. The best part is that I find most of what I learn to be absolutely fascinating.
I’ve been working for a while on writing them up into blog-length pieces of advice, ranging from tips on redirecting traffic to your site (things like growing traffic with the right content) to things you might or might now know about running a small business. This is the first time around for me, and I haven’t been to business school, so some of it is going to be fairly obvious and some of it is going to be more obscure (this is an obscure field of business, after all).
Regardless, I think it’s the type of thing that would be pretty helpful to anyone else who wants to start a blog and make money off of it.
I plan to post a good twenty peices or so online - maybe here, maybe on another blog - and make a larger grand total available in book format. We’ll see how I do at finishing what I’ve started this time around (I have a bad record with that).
I hope I get it done. I want to write a book.
