My screenwriting professor has a tendency to quote people. It’s kind of funny, because it’s almost as though he’s read so many scripts in his life that he realizes nothing worth saying is original.

Today he said that [someone famous] liked to say: “I hate writing, but I love having written.”

Pretty damn true.

The final assignment in this class is to write a ten page screenplay. Ten pages is pretty short; the formatting on a screenplay basically forces you to fit no more than one or two hundred words on a page.

In the end though it’s just one more writing project to add to the list of projects I still haven’t finished. Aside from writing for Flicker every day (or as often as possible with my current schedule), I’m hacking slowly away at two short stories and a book.

Maybe someday I’ll finish one of them.
