Google Reader is my new RSS feedreader

It’s been a long time since I’ve used any sort of feedreader at all. I tend to read a very small number of blogs (regularly - I click through at least a million a day), and I just haven’t seen an effective feed reader for my style until now.

I signed up for Google reader ages ago when it came out, but at the time it was a pretty clunky little adaptation of the Gmail interface - it hijacked my feeds and re-organized them alphabetically, and didn’t really work that well with my reading style.

But now the way it’s implemented suits me perfectly - it loads quickly because it’s RSS instead of HTML, it’s easy to click on links because I am, in fact, in a fully-functioning browser, and I’m not stuck clicking on individual post titles to read through them because it lists posts one after the other.

On top of all that, it’s presented in a nice, neat style.

I also really, really dig the “home page” that offers up a smattering of new material from your feeds in a cool and friendly style, so I can glance through some headlines from my own selection of feeds. This is definitely the future of RSS.

As a completely unrelated side note, now that IE7 went out over Windows Update, it means that everyone will start seeing my blog properly since I never did get it fully compatible with IE6.
