Which Safari do I have?
I like having at least two browsers on my system. Aside from the fact that I need to be able to check the web pages I built in multiple browsers, having a second browser around that is just as functional as Firefox is nice because it lets me stay logged in to two separate sets of accounts at the same time.
Safari is pretty good for that, except when it doesn’t support tabbed browsing.
For whatever reason, the version of Safari that came pre-installed on my new MacBook Pro doesn’t support tabbed browsing. So I looked up what version it was (Safari->About Safari) and it told me “2.0.4”
OK, I understand that. But when I went to the Apple web site, it says the newest version of Safari is 1.2.
So…which is newer? I guess I should stop writing this post and just download the one online since it probably supports tabs, which is what I want in the first place, but admit it: it’s still confusing! I just don’t want to accidentally replace my hyper-cool super-secret-beta version of the browser when i could just enable tabs with some setting option…
EDIT: As it turns out, I should stop being witty and just look through preferences. I found the setting. Why isn’t this enabled by default?
