George Lucas accidentally explains why Star Wars Episodes I, II, & III suck so bad
According to the Sci-Fi blog io9 (worth checking out), George Lucas recently made a fool of himself talking about the new Indiana Jones movie that comes out in May.
They picked a few juicy quotes, and what nobody seems to have realized is that he has also accidentally explained why the “new” Star Wars movies are crap. Read carefully:
“The fans are all upset. They’re always going to be upset. ‘Why did he do it like this? And why didn’t he do it like this?’ They write their own movie, and then, if you don’t do their movie, they get upset about it. So you just have to stand by for the bricks and the custard pies, because they’re going to come flying your way.”
Now allow me to paraphrase:
“When you write a crap movie, all you get is criticism. So you just have to ignore all the criticism.”
Whaaaa? Lucas, come on, you have to be smarter than that.
Yes some hardcore fans will whine if you don’t include their favorite bit from their favorite fanfic, but you can’t delude yourself into thinking that ALL FAN CRITICISM is inherently worthless just because it comes from fans.
