2008 CES Schwag Report

Since this is the first time I’ve been to CES, I can only assume that one of the natural pastimes at the show, aside from drooling over the various insanely cool toys lying around, is collecting as much free stuff as possible. In this area I’d say I’ve done reasonably well.

First of all, it’s pretty fun wandering around with a blogger pass, because it lets me into the press lounge where I get to hang out with “real reporters” and into the various blogger lounges (like the Seagate Bloghaus and the Plantronics Blogger Lounge) where I get to hang out with “real bloggers”.

Being a blogger also let me pick up a little gift baggie from Plantronics, which has a sweet little Bose Altec Lansing speaker, ideal for portable ipodding, and a noise-canceling, bells-and-whistles wireless headset that plugs into my laptop via a little USB stick.

I’m also going to blab a bit about the press bag (blogger bag — same thing) that I picked up. I think it’s pretty sweet. It’s a colorful backpack with more zippers than pockets (technically true), and that can be worn like a classic backpack, or slung over the shoulder messenger style.

You can also detach a small laptop-bag size portion, and carry that messenger style. I think it’s pretty sweet.

I wouldn’t have minded one of Sharp’s sweet new prototype LCD HDTVs, but, you can’t get everything you want. I think I did pretty well.
