After much deliberation, I have decided that Tweets will be posts
I’ve had my Tweets (from Twitter) running through my sidebar for some time now.
There are some awesome benefits to this system. Most importantly, I think they look cool over there. Also, it’s cool to have more of my “lifestream” aggregated to this blog.
But there are some downsides, too. Sometimes the page hangs when the Twitter servers are being slow. They’re a bit out of the way, and a lot of people probably don’t notice them.
I recently installed Twitter Tools on this blog, which lets me do some new, cool things. One thing is that all my blog posts get published automatically as Tweets through my Twitter account.
Another option I get is to import my tweets as blog posts. I think it would, most importantly, look less cool than the tweets in the sidebar.
But it will also pull them more legitimately into my “lifestream,” which is what I want this blog to be, and it will let people leave comments on the tweets (I’d prefer they just @tweet me back, of course, but I can’t have everything…).
It will also solve the issue with page load times as the tweets will be housed in my own database. And finally, for the same reasons, it will be an archive of my Tweets that is fully under my control.
So I’m going to give that a try. I think it will work out well.
