Underestimating Timothy Zahn
I have a habit of understimating my favorite author, which is probably one of the reasons he is my favorite author. Pick up any book by Timothy Zahn and, if you are a fan of sci-fi, I guarantee you will be pleased.
He has a knack for taking ridiculously kooky-sounding concepts and turning them into remarkably engaging novels. The difference between the back of the book and the book is huge.
I’ve been putting off one of the only books he wrote that I haven’t yet read for precisely that reason: by all external accounts, the book just isn’t something I’m interested in. It’s called Triplet. The cover is none too promising, either.
But crack the book open and sure enough - genius pours out. Just makes you wonder, what if the description on the back of the book sounded good?
