My camera is on the road again

As anyone who pays attention to my rampant tweeting already knows, while I was finally making the trip back from Washington DC on Thursday, one day and a couple hundred dollars later than we expected, I managed to leave my camera bag on the Amtrak when debarking at Richmond.

It took me a grand total of 10 minutes to realize it was missing, but that’s more than enough time for a train to leave the station (and it did). As a result, I spent last Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday convinced that I’d be moving forward in life without my wonderful Canon Rebel XTi, or, for that matter, my photos from the inauguration.

But this morning at ass o clock in the morning (OK, 7am PST), I got a call from Amtrak letting me know that…they found my camera.

I don’t know which particular brand of good luck I’m wallowing in at the moment, but that’s pretty freaking incredible. Looks like Amtrak has some honest employees (or maybe everyone is drunk on Obama-do-good-ness), but one way or other, my camera is now on the way home:
